This is a calling notice for the 2021-22 Annual General Meeting which will be held on 10th May 2022 at our usual venue, commencing 7:30pm. Please note that this date has been moved one week due to availability.
We will bring along a nomination sheet to meetings leading up to the AGM itself so that you can nominate the people that you want to run the club on your behalf.

It would be good to get some new members on the committee to keep the ideas coming and also to share the tasks that need to be done (this really is minimal).

Specifically, we do need a new Secretary as Ian Brown has stepped down from the role.

If you wish to nominate then either write them on the sheet at the club or email Sec@ribblesdalecameraclub.org.uk with the names suggested.

L&CPU Club Comp

Ribblesdale entered the 2022 Club Competition held at Elm Bank in Eccles over the weekend of 2/3rd April – we entered the Digital section which comprised of 16 ‘Open’ images and 8 Nature images. In the open section we finished in a very creditable 11th place which is a great results for our small club. We fared less well in a vhighly competitive Nature section but still managed 19th overall in the L&CPU. Well done to all who had images selected for this event. If you really want to see some of the best photography in the north-west of England then I highly recommend attending this competition in years to come. Our entries are shown below…

ICPA KO Results

Ribblesdale recently finished in a very respectable 4th place in the ICPA Knock-OIut competition held at Padiham CC. The entry consisted of 10 images plus a spare for any tie-break that may be needed. The resulting league table (shown below) didn’t follow the usual pattern with several ‘smaller’ clubs doing well.

Harley & RJ Model Shoot

Tuesday saw our latest in-house model shoot featuring RJ and Clitheroe’s own Casey. Members turned out in good numbers and I saw lots of great images on the backs of cameras. Hopefully we’ll see some of these making an appearance in the upcoming competitions. Below are some shots and ‘Behind the Scenes’ grabs.

Studio Day – The Bard

We held the studio day with Ciaron Davies (aka The Bard) who is a actor, director and costumier at 2G Studios in Oswaldtwistle. Five members reserved their places on the shoot and chose to shoot either in pairs or on their own and I stayed for the whole session in case anybody needed any support. Below are some ‘Behind the Scenes‘ images along with a few shots from the day…

Tri-Club Battle 2021

We hosted the annual battle between Ribblesdale, Darwen and Blackburn but this time with a twist – it was on Zoom! As the previous year’s battle had to be cancelled due to Covid (and it was the pre-Zoom era) there were two years worth of images to be selected from. The battle was pretty close from the outset, Darwen set up up a slender lead and held it throughout, coming first with xx points. Ribblesdale were second with xx points and Blackburn just behind on xx points. The competition was judged very well by Nigel Plant of the NEMPF, below are the awarded images.

Portrait Night

On February 18th 2020 Graham Currey visited us as part of our portrait night where our members captured a range of images. Graham brought his Cowboy and Marshall outfits along with various props and there was a good turn out of camera wielding members. Below are some images captured along with a ‘behind the scenes‘ shot.

RDCC Exhibition

Ribblesdale Camera Club are proudly exhibiting their work in the new display area at Clitheroe Library. The club have worked closely with the library to enable this and we must thank Graham for his persistence in seeing this through. We have currently got 38 prints on display which will remain throughout 2019 and the prints will be replaced for January 2020 with a fresh selection. We have tried to cover as many members as possible and if you have submitted prints for inclusion you will be represented during the exhibition.

Leyland Exhibition Invitation

Leyland Photographic Society will be running the Leyland Invitation Photographic Exhibition once again this year. The exhibition is scheduled to take place at the South Ribble Museum and Exhibition Centre as it has in previous years. The Exhibition will open on the 26th of November and run until the 20th of December. The official opening will take place on Saturday the 30th of November.
Last season our members did very well in the exhibition with a number of acceptances gained along with a prize winner. Each individual’s entry will consist of up to 3 mounted prints at a cost of £4 per entry (not per print). The closing date for entries will be the 18th of October.

ICPA 19 Results

Results are just in from the annual ICPA competitions.
We have managed a creditable 5th place in the Arthur Clayton Rosebowl but slipped to 9th in the Toulmin Shield and Frank Sellars Trophy, this is a slight improvement from last year. As the competition features two print sections we are somewhat limited by the number of members entering prints these days so please consider entering a few more prints this year. The tables are shown below…
